😍😍😍 I have no words. Absolutely everything great about fantasy contained in one outstanding novel. I can't wait to read the third!

I've never read any kind of English style guide before, and I'm so glad I made the random decision to pick this up from the library! It was fascinating to read, and very reassuring and informative. I found the idea that any English is valid very refreshing.

Reading this book gave me the same vibe as playing a really good session of D&D - they have the same awesome vibe. It was funny and touching and at times ridiculous. I've already recommended it to people. (Minor criticism: A couple of minor plot points about internal struggles characters had felt cut short to me - BUT if they had been explored more fully it could've dragged on and been boring & predictable so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Uncertain alliances! A shady cabal! Mysterious alchemy! How could you NOT love this book (and the whole series)? (I'm also more than a little in love with Miss Temple)

When I first picked this book up, I thought it was about Jayant Patel, but in truth its subject is the failings of Queensland Health. It was absolutely fascinating to read about all the bureaucracy and politics surrounding the system (Thomas likely has some bias, but his writing is pretty darn good). My only disappointment is that I want to know more! It left me very curious about how the system (& public opinion) has changed in the past 11 years.
