I‘m about halfway through this audiobook and am really enjoying it. This is the first time I have been able to listen to an audio and not fall asleep. Makes me want to try another when I finish this one. Any suggestions?

Random picture of hail in Arizona today. By the time it was done it looked like we had an inch of snow on all the cars and ground. Crazy weather.

Anyway @CareBear my #LMPBC book is on its way to you for next month. I stuck it in the mail today. Should be to you by Thurs or Friday next week.

CareBear Yay!!! How did you know who to send to? Mine is ready to go out too! 9h
babyruth2510 @CareBear we had gotten an email with the schedule and our addresses on it. I was #3 on the list and you were # 4 9h

I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would. I was so worried all the hype would ruin it for me, but I liked this a lot. Alex and his family are hilarious and snarky and loving. 4.5⭐️

4 stars. Sadie is the story of a girl looking to find justice for her sister. I went into this one not knowing what to expect but knowing it got high reviews. The switching back and forth between podcast transcript and Sadie's point of view took a while to get used to but it ended up working well.

This book made me so sad and my heart broke knowing that real people live this everyday. Overall, a very good book. It sticks with you for a while.

This book was simply beautiful. I do not know how to say much more without giving some part of the plot away.

This book was just what I needed to break out of a reading slump. Quick, interesting, and just enough twists and turns. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Only issue for me was that the story seemed familiar. Like I had read something very similar before. The ending surprised me though, which is always good.🙂

Living in a desert means I have a little experience with sand getting everywhere and the destructive force it can have, but for the characters in Sand, it defines their lives. I enjoyed this story and the emotion felt in the writing. As the last pages came, I found myself wanting more... to have a more satisfying conclusion, to spend more time with the characters, and to find out more about what lies in the east and the west. Overall 3.5 stars.

Beautifully written and full of raw emotions, Ocean Vuong succeeds in creating a book that stays with you. It's been a couple days since I've read it and still find myself thinking about phrases he used.

Written as a letter to his mother, the narrator wrestles with topics like trauma, war, race, sexuality, and identity and how all of these shape who he and his family are.

4 stars. Would have been 5, but some areas lacked development.

Nute This review makes me want to run to the bookstore right now to purchase this book! 4w

I wanted to like this book, truly I did... but Leah annoyed the crap out of me. Maybe it is because I'm not 16 anymore but I just found her rude and just too much. There were some good moments in the book and some sweet friendships but not enough for me to recommend the book. It made me sad because I liked Simon's story and had high Hope's for this book too.

Although I couldn't figure out what all was going on and who was who until the end of volume one, the artwork kept me going. As each detail of the plot becomes clearer and clearer, I found myself on the edge of my seat.... what is going to happen? Definitely going to read volume 2.

Queenie | Candice Carty-Williams

I had such a hard time with this book, but ended up relating to Queenie in many ways. There were times where I wanted to throw the book across the room I was so frustrated with Queenie but then moments later I found myself wanting to cry because a thought or a feeling that she had resonated with me so hard. The discussions about mental health are so important and the extra layers of race and cultural beliefs show how difficult a topic it can be.

This book is an interesting look at one woman's strength, dignity, and determination to be herself at all costs. Set in Australia, Sandra's story of transitioning is difficult and often downright scary but she pushes on. As a trauma cleaner, Sandra arrives to give her clients those very things that she keeps fighting for herself: strength, dignity, and hope.
I found the book a little slow and completely not what I expected. 3 stars.

Reading about the Babe and stardom in the 1920s has me comparing athletes and celebrities today. It's very cool to see the way the Babe was a trailblazer and how his stardom has continued 100 years later.

Plus, I can't help but keep thinking of the movie the Sandlot and the scene where the boys list all the nicknames of the babe: Sultan of Swat, the Great Bambino, the Collosus of Clout, etc.😁

Leftcoastzen Love the Babe !Need to read this one.❤️ 4mo

Three timelines (17th century, 19th century, and modern day) interweave to tell the story of powerful gifts given to Elizabeth Stuart the Winter Queen. Based on real historical figures, I found myself spending lots of time looking up information about the real people. The book was slow in parts but kept enough of my attention to keep going. Fans of historical fiction will enjoy this book.

Vaclav and Lena | Haley Tanner

Vaclav is determined to be a magician whatever it takes. Lena is his best friend. One night Lena disappears and Vaclav's world is torn apart. 7 years later Lena shows back up.
There was a lot of set up with this book and very little pay off. Although the author explains a lot of why Vaclav and Lena do what they do I just couldn't connect to the characters. I wanted so much more from this book. It had potential.

I'm not sure what to say about this book. Part poetry part prose, Alexie works his way through stages of grief and coming to terms with who his mother was and how she shaped him. As the author himself says, he is an unreliable narrator but that both adds and detracts from the story at parts as he recounts stories of life on the Rez. I have enjoyed Alexie in the past, but this one was much harder to get into.

I wanted to like this book so much more than I did. The story itself is engaging and you cant help but root for Pino and feel his joy and devastation during the Nazi occupancy of Milan in WWII. The writing style kept putting me off as it seemed childish at times and kept jumping mid sentance to another thought or paragraph. I almost quit in the early chapters. Glad I hung around as the story ends up being compelling.

I finally finished the book and have walked away with a deeper respect for Michelle. Her strength in the face of adversity and desire to improve the lives of others stuck with me. Although I found some parts dragging, I really enjoyed the information about living in the Whitehouse and what daily life was like. I was also impressed by the her desire to be an example for people. Look how far you can go. I give this 4 stars.

Reading partially like a history book and part like a expedition journal, The Lost City of the Monkey God was able to keep my interest throughout. I found myself looking up photos of fer-de-lances and leishmaniasis, imagining what it was like in the jungle. To celebrate finishing the book and to keep the sense of adventure going, I went paddleboarding this morning down the river.
