The Bride of Amman | Fadi Zaghmout

This was probably a daring book when it first published in Arabic in 2012. (I read the translation by Ruth Ahmedzai Kemp.) The story is about what can happen to women of marriageable age in Jordan when they try to vary from the culture. I read this book for the Passport Reading Challenge. Highly recommend this book.

A relaxed read and disappointingly predictable. This is a bok to read after you've done some heavy reading!

Pickpick

A very interesting read. Life goes on and doesn't seem to change much. This book was written in 1924!

Pickpick

I don't read a lot of YA but I might pickup more after reading this. Mental health is not talked about often enough and sometimes I think society wants to stick to the past and just not talk about it.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had hoped. It was repetitive for the most part. The last 50 pages or so seemed forced to tie up the story. Although I plowed through it to the end, and really didn't enjoy it, this book will stay with me for a while.

Just started this. So far so good.

bookjam Not staying quite as good. I will finish it. I have a hard time putting a book down even if I'm not really into it. 7y
