I love this complex and beautiful comic. Two words— Father Fucker.

Once Upon a River | Diane Setterfield

I liked this book. Setterfield again wrote a compelling turn of the century mystery testing and questioning what makes a family. She takes on the role of story and why humans tell stories and how we tell stories in this wonderful book. She rubs folklore up again science winding you deeper and deeper into the story until like the characters, truth and fiction is hard to place.

I couldn‘t finish it. It was the kinda real writing that made tough reading. Pass.

Wanted to see if she could write fiction. It‘s been a romp. I can‘t tell if I like it yet and as you can see I have two hours left. Compelling like a car wreck—

Finished it: the last little bit of this book were surprisingly heartfelt. There were some very philosophical ideas about life addressed which kinda gave me a little whiplash. Still on the fence about this one though.

I read most of this book and will finish it when my audiobook hold comes in. She doesn‘t avoid the difficult things about the Bible but instead asks to look hard at those stories that seem to undermine humanity. This book has been a light in my often difficult faith journey. Love her take. She will be missed

Started out so promising, but I was disappointed by what ended as a very typical historical fiction book about WWII. I even bought the hard copy ☹️☹️☹️

BarbaraBB I felt the same. 2mo
Cathythoughts I bailed on this one 👍🏻 2mo

I fell hard in love with Michelle Obama. I had 2 hours left in my audiobook when it was automatically returned to my library. I have waited another 12 weeks so far to hear her read the end. One more week till I can finish this but I‘d recommend this to EVERYONE. Worth the wait!

I cannot wait for the third installment. I loved the roaring 20s murder mystery meets modern teen drama. The past and present intertwine creatively. Full of quirky and interesting characters set at a beautiful and intriguing boarding school. Johnson has made me wish I could attend this school as much as I want to attend Hogwarts even with all the murders.

The writing was beautiful and Miller‘s investigation into humanity through divinity was really enjoyable. The Greek myths take on interesting shape and form through the eyes of this unlikely deity.

Everyone kept talking about this book so I thought why not? Part murder mystery, romance, and historical fiction— it definitely kept me guessing. Interesting but maybe overhyped???

I loved the main character a lot. Willa was interesting and so was the Appalachian world she inhabits. Pioneers, Fae people, animals and an author that loves trees ❤️❤️❤️
