Read this one as a book club book. It wasn't a waste of time but there was little to get excited about. I'm not a book snob but the writing was not great, and the story was predictable. There are two parallel stories, one in the present and one in the past. One of the stories is unnecessary. And I am obviously not in a great mood for pointing out the positive. So perhaps I am wrong and I am a book snob. But tomorrow is another day.

Pickpick

I should have read this one before I read Educated. Educated was much better in my opinion, but this one will throw you for a loop as well. It is truly unbelievable at times, how these children are treated, but knowing full well that their parents love them so much, but are damaged themselves. When they move to their father's hometown and see what he had to grow up with in his own parents home, it all makes sense. Worthwhile read!

I really wanted to focus on Sasha's story arc, but the book would not comply. I enjoyed the other stories, but those stories, along with the characters, bored me a bit. I just wanted to get back to hers. The stories all meet in the end, but it was not nearly as satisfying as I had hoped. I enjoyed Jennifer's writing and will definitely read another one of hers
