It Can't Happen Here | Sinclair Lewis

I know this book is important to read, especially at the moment. Whilst it's kind of amazing the similarities to now and Lewis's predictions of World War II events the book feels very admin-y and I am so struggling to stay engaged. Gotta persevere...

Such a powerful book. The concept of nothingness, a lack of stimuli as a form of torture is explored in great detail. You feel Dr B's tension and distress throughout the story.
One of the best novellas I've read in a while!

The Good Immigrant | Nikesh Shukla
Pickpick

This book was amazing. Such an important read given the times we are living in. I try to read a diverse selection of books but I don't often read works by BAME writers from the UK, so often the context is American. It was a hard read in parts, it caused me to examine my privileges more than ever and revealed truths that I had previously been ignorant of. I would recommend this book to anyone. The essay style is a favourite of mine. A winner 🤗👌👌
