This is one of those books that's worth reading even if you don't agree with all of its arguments or conclusions. It's interesting and thought-provoking and only occasionally too preachy. If you have any interest in animals, psychology, or human evolution, it's a good read.

Pickpick

This book is full of poems that are beautiful and profound after one reading, and which still wouldn't be fully explored after the hundredth. It feels wrong to take it off my reading list, because I feel like I'll never be done reading it. (If you don't know Jericho Brown, look up "Bullet Points".)

Did you know that Nat Hentoff is the only purely objective human being in the country, and that every other person is overly-sensitive and reactionary? Well it's true, and if the first page doesn't convince you, there are 391 more that say exactly the same thing!

Snow Falling on Cedars | David Guterson

I love the title of this book because it perfectly evokes the way I've felt while reading it: it started out very slow and gentle, then steadily, and almost imperceptibly, got deeper and deeper and heavier and heavier.
