Cashier at Barnes & Noble: I've been meaning to read this.
Me: I know right? It has dragons and romance! My two favorite things!
In a text to my boyfriend after looking up the ending when stuff got weird: "The irrational part of me feels tainted by this bad book, horrified by its fantastic reviews online, and terrified that if this is what literature holds for me I have no future. Why am I insane." Bailed majorly.

This is, by a wide margin, the most entertaining book on language learning I have ever come into contact with. If this had been my textbook in high school I might've learned to say something in Spanish besides "I don't like your face."
Adorably entertaining. This book is terminally relatable, there's no curing it's charm. You'll laugh your way through hilarious stories, lists, and life advice from someone impossible to dislike. Even if you haven't seen the show, this book is a promise to every awkward girl: you're alright.
Not his greatest book, but definitely the best signing I've ever attended. Now if only I could go back in time and turn the "Uhh..uhh..." from when he signed it into something thoughtful and witty. ?
I'm just gonna leave this right here.
And suddenly I, too, am in love with Mindy Kaling.
When you pick up a book on foreign language learning, you don't expect to laugh your ass off while reading it. Fluent Forever is a fascinating and witty deviation from the norm and I can't help wondering if it's opera singing author is as attractive as he is intellectual.
This is one of the most aggressively terrible books I have ever had the displeasure of reading. The characters are entirely flat and just plain jerks. There is no feasibility to these relationships and I found myself hating the people carrying them out more and more. I wish I'd never read it.
Get ready for terrible writing, terrible character development, and one hell of a story. While this is one of the better stories I have ever read and highly compelling, it's one of the only times I have ever enjoyed the movie more than the books. Definitely worth the read but not all the hype.
Love Carrie and her persona; not in love with her first person writing style or the flow of this book. It reads more like a diary mixed with a magazine article. Tidbits of excellence, but better read by the author aloud than read by you.
This book will completely change your perspective on education. If you were dissatisfied with your K-12 schooling, this is a wonderful opener for looking into alternative theories of learning and ways to grow up.
Let's be honest; you're not going to get the same level of skill from reading this that you would from hiring an executive coach. But if you can't afford that, this is definitely worth your time. Expect new confidence and better awareness of your social behaviors after reading.
The definitive volume on 90's and early 2000's pop culture. Even if you aren't a follower of celebrity and music news, this book is an intriguing look into what fascinates us as a culture.
A flight of imagination that enchants while also dealing with the complex emotions of loss, loneliness, friendship, and finding oneself. This classic extends beyond childhood with a timeless innocence that is surprisingly exciting.
