I was really excited when I first started this book, having not particularly enjoyed the last two books I read.

It started off great, it peaked my interest and was a page turner, well, to begin with anyway.

But then, as the story went on, I found it to be very far fetched, and found the main character to be very frustrating - it was like, "come on dude, when are you going to man up,"

Nonetheless, the twist at the end did surprise me!

This was a funny, light hearted and a very easy read! Exactly what I needed on holiday. A lovely story about, heartbreak, great friendship and finding love when you least expect it

This book gave some valuable insight into regret and how difficult it can be raising children, and trying to do your best by them. The realisation and reminder that we have no control is quite scary, particularly with the challenges and pressures the youth face now.

However, I regret that this book was very slow for my liking and I felt I was just waiting the entire time for it to begin. The story was not rich or developed enough for my liking

Peaslady I disagree 😉, but yay! Hello! 5y
saira Hello! ☺️Hehehe, that's why it's great to be in a book club, we get to read all kinds of books, some we like, some we don't. 5y

Fascinating that Al Balkhi had these ideas in the 11th century, yet it wasn't until the 19th century that the West really grasped these concepts, now termed as CBT. It was interesting to see the different themes covered in such a small book and the 4 different types of neurosis's discussed; sadness and depression, anger and aggression, fear and panic and the obsessive inner.

If you have an interest in the psych then this is a book for you

saira Importance of friendly companionship (pg22) - when you voice your thoughts, a good friend can help you rationalise them and help you to expel negative thinking, OR authenticate what you are thinking. As otherwise faulty thinking/learning leads to emotional pathological habits, incorrect inferences as a result of inadequate or incorrect information and not being able to differentiate between 'imagination and reality'. 5y
