Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of The World is one of the best Murakami's work, hands down. It's one of the most original thing, yet it doesn't tear away so much from the reality despite the existence of alternate worlds.
It's not very much like it's predecessor, but it's vibe is good.
'Videotape', albeit the title, revolves around the back-cover synopsis rather than the symbol itself. Hence, a lot of main focus is given to the main character, Razak, and his life, instead of shifting the focus towards the murder case in the entire novel.
