Next Year in Havana | Chanel Cleeton
post image

Hi 👋 I‘m new to Litsy, well I‘ve been here for awhile, but this is my first post. I love historical fiction & I have always been fascinated by Cuba & it‘s history. Next Year in Havana was captivating. I love the contrasts and similarities between Elisa & Marisol‘s stories as Cuban women. I am sad this book is over but I want to talk about it! What were your thoughts?

intothehallofbooks I loved this one too. I had no idea about so much of what Chanel Cleeton included about Cuba in this book. Excited for the next one! 6y
taylorm0810 @intothehallofbooks Me too! I really felt like I was learning something and I think all of the history helped the reader really imagine what that time must have been like. 6y
BooksForEmpathy @taylorm0810 HI!! I am almost finished with this one!! I love it a lot. It makes me want to go there and the back and forth stories are equally gripping and reflect each other so beautifully and elegantly. To go to a place like Cuba and really understand it is to immerse yourself in the history, and Cleeton has done it so naturally. We could go through the reading guide questions too! 6y
BooksForEmpathy Also, love your first post! Keep posting!! 6y
taylorm0810 @BooksForEmpathy - I completely agree, and she did that for Marisol too, which I loved. Let‘s get together and go over the reading guide questions, I would love that!!! & I‘m gonna try to keep up the posting 😊 6y
