Want to be a graphic designer? See Part 2. There are more designers than jobs. Capitalism abuses their designers making them over-worked, under-valued, suspicious of other designers, and depressed. (Yes. Really.)

If you want to be rich and famous, study marketing instead.

If you want to be an ethical designer, GO LOCAL. Join a union, a collective, or a commons. Help people help you help them help you grow.

But, don‘t quit your day job.

Antelope Woman: A Novel | Louise Erdrich

Pickpick

The Antelope Woman character is haunting. Dreams and omens leak into my life as I was reading this. The story is told in pieces by several characters‘ point of view. There is a family tree in the first pages that helps. I like Almost Soup. I bet you will, too. The urban setting feels close and gritty. The rez, open. Paraphrase: This is “a new book partly made from the old book,” The Antelope Wife. I haven‘t read the old one. This one is great.

Firekeeper's Daughter | Angeline Boulley

This was a great young adult book. This is coming from an old adult, but a young adult recommended it to me. A little romance, a little mystery, and lots of native culture references. And hockey. I loved the main character and her aunt. I‘m putting this on my Will Read It Again stack.
