To me a scholar is truly gifted if she/he can make complex theories readable and captivating. Kirsch does that with his summaries of 18 different classics of Jewish literature. He gives insights, puts the works into historical context and each of his summaries are a joy to read! I particularly enjoyed Philo of Alexandria The exposition of the laws and The Guide of the Perplexed by Moses Maimonides, but actually no! I enjoyed them all.
