Furthest I‘ve been from home were my trips down under. Los Angeles to Sydney Australia, approximately 7,500 miles and Los Angeles to Auckland New Zealand approximately 6,500 miles.

I‘ve always been intrigued by the Salem Witch trials and this was a good informational read. I wasn‘t even aware of this title so thanks @TheBookHippie for introducing me to it. Great pick for spooky season.
#majicmonday
As a child I loved to collect stickers and stuffed animals. As an adult I collect books of course! Other items I can‘t resist collecting are gingerbread and Disney Christmas ornaments.

September #wrapup
Had a great reading month with some very interesting books and subjects. Hard to pick a favorite they were all good in their own way.
A reread of a childhood favorite with #childrensclassicread2025
The story of Jill and her classmates still stands the test of time as it addresses bullying. I always say it but it was Blume who made me reader and through her books I learned so much.
July #bookspin pick completed. At nearly 500 pages it took a minute to get through as it covers books 1-5 in the Weetzie Bat series. This was a popular series back in the 90‘s & it was one of the first YA books to have LGBTQ characters & to talk about AIDS. As a middle aged woman I am not the target audience and it‘s a bit too hippy dippy for me now but I would have adored it if I read it years ago. I love the LA setting. Home sweet home.
August was a much better month than July. Standouts were Guantanamo Voices and tagged title. Both are must reads for understanding history and what‘s going on in our country.
August #SeriesLove2025 wrap up.
Yay! Got three books read towards series love. Makes me current with Evanovich, one book left to go in The Weetzie Bat series and of course I just had to start a new to me series with Rocky Road.
July #WrapUp.
Wow! July was a really bad reading month for me. I dnf‘d The Cake House and best of the month was The Other Side of Tomorrow. Sheesh, hope August is a better reading month.
#thoughtsforthursdau
Thanks for the tag @Eggs I‘m so grateful for many things it‘s hard to just pick one thing! But in the spirit of Litsy I‘m so grateful for access to wonderful libraries and bookstores in my city.
June #SeriesLove2025
Two books read in ongoing series. Stephanie Plum is always a good escapist read for me. It‘s the same story over and over but there is comfort in that. Ruby was a much better book in this series than Bob‘s book. Of course Ivan‘s story is still the best. One more book to go and I‘ll be finished with The One and Only series.
May #wrapup
A few good ones this month. James was well done and I loved learning more about Eve. Boots on The Ground was also good, I liked reading about veteran‘s experiences and it gave good insight.
#weekendreads
Finishing up Boots on the Ground, which is very good , and starting Orbital for book club.
#christiescapers
Another lackluster library edition. Overall, I liked this one. Poirot and his little gray cells were hard at work. Usually I am not a fan of short stories but in this case I liked the short stories better than some of Christie‘s books. Her mysteries can get really convoluted but in this format there wasn‘t too much time to get too crazy. My favorite mystery was the first story, The Adventures of the Western Star.
May #bookspin
Finally! I completed a bookspin, my second for the year. This YA novel is a fast paced retelling of Poe‘s The Cask of Amontillado. I didn‘t realize it was part of a duology so I‘ll have to read the second book to get all the answers to this revenge story between two former best friends. Although I enjoyed it the overall plot was a bit over the top and unbelievable but it was entertaining enough.
#weekendreads
Thinking of all those who have served while reading the tagged title this weekend. 🇺🇸
#weekendreads
Going to be very hot here in my neck of the woods this weekend so planning on staying indoors under the ac and dig into these two titles.
April #wrapup
Another great reading month in the books! Some great picture books this month.
#ChristiesCapers
A bit late but this was a fun one! I enjoyed the African adventure and touch of romance with Anne the plucky heroine.
I had plans yesterday so my niece and I participated in Independent Bookstore Day today by visiting our local indies. Was a fun aunt and niece kind of day.
My small but growing NYRB book collection. My latest addition is the tagged title.
My growing Babitz collection.
#serieslove2025
Last year with series love I got caught up on my library cozy series this year I‘m focusing on catching up with the cupcake series. I‘ve been reading these since 2011 so these books and characters are familiar and cozy and follow the usual formula. In this one there is a shooter loose targeting the shop owners. It‘s up to Mel and the gang to figure out who and why.
It‘s been a minute since I‘ve participated in #weekendreads but hoping to get back into it. Generally I‘m not a big non-fiction reader but both my weekend reads are. Still following the Babitz rabbit hole and a local interest title.
April #childrensclassicread2025
I enjoyed this sweet little story of Mary and her mouse house but mostly I enjoyed the illustrations, they felt very nostalgic for my childhood reading days.
March #WrapUp
March was another great reading month. My top two picks are the tagged title and All The Colors of the Dark. Reading Eve has sent me down the Didion/Babitz rabbit hole which I‘ll be reading more of in April.
#christiescapers #serieslove2025
Book two in the Poirot series. I actually enjoyed this one better than the first book. The murder mystery was more intriguing to me and I liked the addition of Giraud.
#AllergicToChunksters
I consider anything over 500 pages to be a chunkster so at 600 pages my first chunkster is completed! I enjoyed the writing and all the characters but I did have to suspend my disbelief a lot with the murder mystery and that was a bit of a disappointment for me. Still, it‘s a great character study and worth a read.
January And February #serieslove2025 #wrapup
Off to a decent start this year, getting in two titles so far.
February #wrapup
Life has been full of distractions and I‘m finding it hard to focus on my reading. I was lucky to finish these books last month, mostly for book clubs and buddy reads. I enjoyed all of them.
#christiescapers #serieslove2025
This was my first read and introduction to Tommy and Tuppence. I enjoyed the mystery and the two young detectives even though it was a bit contrived and ridiculous but I found it fun and engaging. I would definitely read another book in this series.
January #wrapup
2025 is off to a strong reading start despite the fact that I didn‘t complete any books for challenges. Lots of clunkers and mediocre reads this month but my favorites were Lula Dean, Twelve Dancing Princesses and Agatha Christie. Animal Albums for children was adorable, make sure to listen to the songs!
