#SUNDAYBUDDYREAD

There‘s been a lot of memes lately about women going to the seashore to rest like the old days..think we all need rest?

Ginette-Exhaustion
Rest needed
She was allowed books …

Agoraphobia -Agoraphobia (ag-uh-ruh-FOE-be-uh) is a type of anxiety disorder. Agoraphobia involves fearing and avoiding places or situations that might cause panic and feelings of being trapped, helpless or embarrassed.

Librarybelle Thanks for sharing the article! 1d
IndoorDame Great article! I haven‘t read The Yellow Wallpaper for 25 years, so I appreciate this. 1d

TheBookHippie @IndoorDame I feel I need a new copy and a reread. 1d
mcctrish As much as I‘d like to make a joke about needing a rest at the seashore for myself ( especially in January/February) having everything taken away and put in isolation would never work, did it ever ? 1d
Sargar114 That looks like an interesting read, never heard of that story. The misogyny during her initial hospital stay and when the doctor came. Really makes it hard to think they had her best interest at heart. 1d
AmyG Sadly, it was the time period….how women were treated. I kept thinking if it was today and Ginette had a proper Dr or therapist, she would have led a different life. She certainly had alot of talking to do about her mother. Jeez. What a disappointment Ginette was….an unmarried woman. 😳😡 (edited) 1d
Karisa Better than the insane asylum! Felt like we were all on a “rest” there for awhile with Covid. I was just fine (of course with my Kindle, Netflix, laptop… )😂 Ginette mostly just had the old radio and back window neighbors 1d
vlwelser The Yellow Wallpaper is amazing and you should definitely reread it. 1d
BookwormAHN I need to add The Yellow Wallpaper to my tbr. I've been meaning to read it for years. I always love to hear men's opinions on what women need, especially those with a medical degree 🤦🏼‍♀️ 1d
DebinHawaii The Yellow Wallpaper is good-classic. I read it a few years ago after hearing so much about it-it was a #blameitonLitsy read. But yes, this “cure” was used so often by men on women back in those days. 😡 1d
Hooked_on_books I think we need a rest from patriarchy. I know I do. 14h
TheBookHippie @DebinHawaii funny enough we had to read it in nurses training back in the day when there was actual LPNs and an actual nursing school. 7h

I had very little prior knowledge of Pan Am. Amazing opportunities for women of a time when they were expected to be housewives and little else. These brave flight attendants traveled the world—going to amazing destinations, wearing clothes that would have been unacceptable and socializing in ways that wouldn‘t have been possible in America. A quick listen and a #blameitonlitsy checkout. Good but not great for me.

Just finished listening to this #blameitonLitsy urban fantasy ghost story? It‘s hard to squeeze this one into a box. Jess has grown up in the USA , graduated from Harvard was living the American dream until her father falls ill and the family is forced to move back to Malaysia. Back to a new world of ghosts, gods and gangsters. Jess has secret , her parents have secrets and her Grandmother‘s ghost had secrets. #jumpstart2023 👍💚🐉

Clwojick Sounds intriguing 🧐 I‘ll have to check it out! ⭐️ 3d
Dragon Thanks @Clwojick it‘s very atmospheric and is surprisingly funny at times thanks to Jess‘s observations 💚🐉 2d
Dragon Thanks @Enchanted_Bibliophile 🙏 thanks - it is a great cover 💚🐉 2d

25. Surprise

This was my first introduction to Riley Sager and I absolutely devoured this book when I read it last summer. And that #Surprise twist at the end?! I am now a huge Riley Sager fan.

Another #blameitonLitsy audiobook became available today on Libby. So I dropped everything and started listening ☕️ 💚🐉

Smrloomis How is it? I can‘t remember why but I also saw this and thought maybe I should try it…What do you think so far? 2w
Dragon Thanks @Smrloomis I‘m just starting Chapter 11 - so far it‘s a slow start. 💚🐉 2w

The middle three are all #BlameItOnLitsy picks! The two tiny home books are because I‘m fascinated with tiny homes. Must learn more🤓🏡

mandarchy Having lived in a tiny home, I can tell you that your imagination can pack a lot into a small space. The reality - not so much. And the worst part, everyone wants to give you something for your tiny home and you have nowhere to put it. 2w
DogMomIrene @mandarchy Yes, that seems in line with my thinking. I try to imagine just my books in a tiny house, and I‘m like…so I‘ll need an auxiliary building to create a library and reading space😂 2w
mandarchy @DogMomIrene, it wouldn't be a home if you couldn't at least have a shelf for your library books. I think I kept my library books in my bag (purse). 2w

Soubhiville Ooooo, I hope you‘ll like them! 2w
DogMomIrene @Soubhiville Just read a bunch of reviews on here and GR. Love the premise of the series plus they‘re all novellas so that‘s a series I can feel good about reading… knowing I can complete it! 2w

#blameitonlitsy Sorry, @catiewithac , this was just okay for me. It was interesting at the beginning, presented clearly and conversationally. The longer it went, though, the more I questioned his thinking, but he really lost me in Chapter 6, where he discussed prognostic myopia and the climate crisis. Overall, some interesting ideas, but I certainly took issue with some of his broad strokes.

I loved this book! It tells the story of the author Ezra Jack Keats. His parents were Polish immigrants who settled in Brooklyn. Jacob (Jack) was born in 1916. A moving story of his desire to be an artist. He loved a series of photos from Life magazine of a charming brown skinned child. Twenty years later, he used the images to inspire his drawings for “The Snowy Day”.

5feet.of.fury I assumed that author was Black this whole time and I probably read The Snowy Day to 115 preschoolers 155 times each 😅 I don‘t know why but that blows my mind that he‘s Polish. 3w
DivineDiana @5feet.of.fury And he is Jewish. I hope you can read the book. It will give you an appreciation of him, not only as a writer and artist, but as a human being. 3w
mrp27 This was such a good book! I loved it. 3w

AshleyHoss820 Snowy Day is one of my absolute favorite books! I love the story behind it, as well! I‘m thinking of making copies of the illustrations (I don‘t think I could tear pages out of a book) and using them as decorations! 🧡 3w
DivineDiana @AshleyHoss820 I could not tear out book pages either. There are some prints available on Etsy! Look what I found on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/906837126/the-snowy-day-ezra-jack-keats?ref=share_v... 3w
