How to Be Here Intl
How to Be Here Intl | Rob Bell
Each of us was created for something greatwe just need to figure out what it is and find the courage to do it! Whether its writing the next great American novel, starting a business, or joining a band, Rob Bell wants to help us make those dreams reality. Our path is ours and ours alone to pursue, and in doing so, we discover great joy in living out of our passion. Here, Rob shows us how to follow our dreams through engaging stories, lessons from biblical figures, honest personal experience, and practical advice like silence your critics, move from idea to action, take the first step, find joy in the work, persevere through hard times, and surrender the outcome. Like The War of Art, this book will inspire readers to leave boring behind and chase after the lives they were created to live.

This was great and full of lots of nuggets of wisdom. Maybe nothing groundbreaking if you read a lot of self help, but Rob Bell is a great storyteller and his little anecdotes were entertaining and on point. Plus he‘s fun to listen to on audio. It felt very conversational and very appropriate for my life right now. And I love the way he just kinda chuckles at himself the whole time.

This would have been an excellent essay, but there is not enough here to call it a book. It is repetitive and overly simplistic. I like the ideas, but there are much better ways to get to them. 2.5 stars.

Life wisdom from the great Rob Bell. More self help than religious.

I wish I could have read this book so many years ago—I‘ve had to learn most of the wisdom in it the hard way, by being really naive and making lots of spectacular mistakes. But it was a gentle reminder that I don‘t have to have everything figured out—not then, not now. All I have to do is be fully present and focus on the next step. This isn‘t a secrets to success guide; it‘s a friendly pep talk on how to make the most of where you are now.

This was probably my least favorite Rob Bell book. It wasn‘t especially coherent, not least because of the formatting. Instead of chapters, it has 9 “parts”, all divided into titled sections of about 2-4 pages each. The whole thing felt disjointed and I‘m not really sure the thesis came together; it‘s just vaguely about finding what you should do with your life and pursuing it. There were a few interesting insights, but not a whole book‘s worth.

I'm not usually into self-helpy, spiritual books, but my inner monologue has been oozing too much self-hatred lately. This was a good 3 hour respite.

Not sure if I'm just in a strange place in my life, but I deeply loved this book. From the very beginning I felt really connected to it despite not being Christian or usually even interested in books like this. I checked it out from the library, but the day I started it I bought a copy that will probably live on my nightstand. I especially recommend the chapter on boredom.

I've surpassed my Goodreads challenge by 46%. Now I'm wondering if I can make it 100%. Can I read 27 books by December 31st? And celebrate holidays, and 2 kid birthdays and move to a new city? 🤔

Part spiritual wisdom, part practical advice = Rob Bell's book trying to help me find purpose in life. Let's hope this works!

NerdyRev I thought it was not his strongest book. It seemed like he was trying to sound like Richard Rohr. 8y

Not my favorite Rob Bell book but there are gems among the rambling that make it worth reading.
