I‘m pretty sure this makes me a bad person, but I didn‘t care for his minimalism origin story. He had too much crap in his garage, his neighbor said he didn‘t have to, epiphany, now he‘s writing a book. I love rock bottom origin stories. The ones that have to sell everything because of a series of unfortunate events. Or how a young person decided not to follow their peers OR PARENTS down the path of debt and self-destruction. That life is EARNED.

A great audiobook. I don't think I would've gotten the pronunciations otherwise, unfortunately.

Coming to terms with a recent excessive weight gain, I hoped this book would be helpful. It was her journey and helpful to her to share it. I can't discount that.

I love her writing. So lush and full of longing, of wanting. Taylor wants the reader to want what her characters want and just when it's right there, the dream ends. A fricken DEATH. I just about threw my phone. I've had it. It's beautiful but it's mean as hell. Like a string in front of a damn cat. P.S. I love Steve West and his delicious voice.

Loved the wit - referring to herself as a man-child - and the relatability - trying too hard for an older man that doesn't care for anyone but himself.

I don't know what it is about these books. Carey is so meticulous with scientific details, yet so aware of each character's humanity. Dumbfounded.

There will never be enough apologies to reconcile the atrocities of black slavery and native encroachment. As a white person, I apologize and promise to teach this side of American history too, so that my children will not participate in the degradation of another's humanity.

Favorite stories bookended the collection: Midnights by Rainbow Rowell (and not just because it's Rainbow Rowell, but really, RAINBOW ROWELL), and the Dreamers short by Laini Taylor who I didn't realize how much I'd missed until I read this one. I need her latest.

There is a reason I don't read memoirs. I have a lot of respect for Glennon in regards to sharing her story, but I don't relate to her. The introspective aspect of the story is wonderful, but not something I can afford to do myself, emotionally. I like the way she writes, but I wished I didn't feel so wrung out.

Laalaleighh Isn't it amaaaaaazing? 8y
LLColbeck @Laalaleighh I'm one of those jerks who will skip to the end of a book to find out what happens. I didn't do that this time, however, I did skim too much to get to the end more quickly. I need to reread to pick up what I missed. 8y
Laalaleighh Haha. I do this sometimes when I can't take the suspense. 8y
