drokka I haven't seen a Vernors in years! 8y
lynneamch Boston Cooler? You must be a Michigander! 8y
Redjewel_7734 @lynneamch originally yes, but I've lived in EKY for most my life. But since my Mom was born & raised a Michigander I have learned to appreciate some of their finest traditions 😊 8y

Redjewel_7734 @drokka If it isn't Vernors, it isn't ginger ale was the way I was brought up, but until the last few years I had to wait on our few & far between trips to Michigan to stock up. I was soooo glad when some places started carrying it locally 😁 8y
mcipher Okay, what is a Boston cooler? Ginger ale and ice cream? I've never heard of that or Vernor's, being from New England. 8y
Redjewel_7734 @mcipher A Boston Cooler is Vanilla Bean ice cream & Vernors Ginger Ale. At my house, we've always considered it a special treat because when I was growing up we only had Vernors a couple of times a year, when we visited family in Michigan & would stock up on it. Vernor's has started to become available more widely now so it's not so rare, but still a special treat 😊 8y
drokka They sold Vernors here in the late 80s and through the 90s, but it's a rare place that stocks it now. I'm going to have to look harder for it, since I've a bit of a craving for it now 😂 8y
Redjewel_7734 @drokka 😊I've always been spoiled by it.even when it was a rarity to have it, I wouldn't drink any other ginger ale since my taught me that no other type really counted as ginger ale 😂 (edited) 8y
Onceuponatime Oh wow, I grew up in the Midwest and my mom would always be on the lookout for Vernors and stock up when she found it! She's from Michigan and introduced us kids to Boston Coolers. That was a rare and special treat...so fun to remember that! 8y
OrangeMooseReads Ok as a life long Michigander (minus 2 years) I grew up drinking these but my great uncle just called them Vernor's floats. I have never heard them called Boston Coolers. I LOVED going to visit my aunt and uncle because I knew he would make Vernor's floats they are fantastic and amazing, but we never called them anything but that. Also Vernor's is a cure all. Upset stomach, drink Vernor's. Headache, drink some Vernor's. 8y
Zelma @OrangeMooseReads 😂 same thing is our house; Vernor's cures everything. My entire family is from MI; my folks just moved back after being the breakouts in their family to move away. I am one of the few out-of-state. 8y
OrangeMooseReads @Zelma Michigan was on the "natural" cures bandwagon way before everyone else LOL ? 8y

No idea how this book ended up on my TBR list. It's not what I expected and I wouldn't recommend it. On a positive note, got my Luke's coffee this morning!
