First morning reading on the porch of our new 🏡 has been 💯 😍😍
First morning reading on the porch of our new 🏡 has been 💯 😍😍
Happy National Read an Ebook Day! I personally feel that I celebrate this year round, but I‘ll take any excuse for festivities!
The little free library by my work is usually just the saddest thing ever so today I dropped off some books there on a break! Hoping they are just what someone else is looking for 😃
I completed my Goodreads challenge on Saturday! 2018 has been a great reading year so far 😁
I intended to post my completed #LitsyAtoZ list after finishing Z for Zachariah and then…🤷🏼♀️ Anyway, here it is! I had a good mix of genres this year so it‘s hard for me to pick a favorite out of this group.
I usually miss the #biglibraryread and end up reading the books solo later, but not this time! Despite the mockings of certain family members, I have downloaded this and am ready to read!!
Finally starting this today!! Thanks a million @britt_brooke 🤗
@kitty_reads posing with my new favorite cookbook and it‘s full of dishes involving cream of mushroom soup and gelatin molds!! I cannot wait for our upcoming throwback dinner party 😋😂
Barely past the table of contents in this and I‘m already in love with the end papers (top) and illustrations 😍🤗😍
Currently reading ⬆️
I‘m too basic to have any idea what steampunk is, but @Pamwurtzler liked this and that‘s good enough for me.
Can you get hygge in June? Yes! I found this to be an entertaining memoir with a sprinkling of more serious nonfiction. As a spoiler for page 5, the author actually does move to Denmark, and somehow that surprised me 🤷🏼♀️ 😂
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Unlike @Pamwurtzler I was into this mystery at the beginning and didn‘t find it clunky until the end. Set in a small Virginia town, old secrets begin to bubble to the surface leading to a murder in the library. Solidly enjoyable with characters I would read about again! 3 ⭐️
This book truly has something to offend everyone: Racism! Repeated objectification of women! Bad writing! No stars for this garbage.
This book was fine, but pretty predictable. I thought the Austen parallels could have used a lighter touch. I‘m also irrationally irritated about the cover-no one rides a bike, unless I totally missed that. Three annoyed stars.
Starting Saturday with essentials: breakfast and Kingsbridge 🤗 Happy Saturday Littens!!
More like 18 miles of tote bags, am I right?? 📚👜👜📚
The cat face sums up my feelings about this book. I wanted to love it, but it never clicked for me. Predictable, cringey, disappointing. I‘ll give it 2.5⭐️
Just back from a delightful vacation! 8 books finished, 1 mermaid float, too many tropical 🍹
I don‘t think the stickers can fully express how excited I am to read this one! The teenage daughter of an evangelical preacher with a reality show gets pregnant-what will they do?? Truly, this sounds wild and I am starting it right now 😁
A shelfie for the final day of #12daysofbookstagram ❗️My shelves wouldn‘t be complete without some poorly done crafts. I would also like to note that this is a shared shelf and the Rommel book does not belong to me.
I‘ve been living that bibliophile life for years-check out my raggedy self converting @kitty_reads to the joys of reading.
#12daysofbookstagram
A selection of my dead tree TBR for you today. While only a small fraction of my overall TBR, I go through actual books much more slowly than kindle books (it‘s so easy to click to the next book!). I am planning to start Helter Skelter after finishing my current NF read-I have strict rules about only one NF read at a time.
#12daysofbookstagram
I will not be able to make it to the library or a bookstore for #12daysofbookstagram so instead I offer you this assortment of pictures I‘ve taken at various libraries and bookstores over the past year. 💛📚💚
Breakfast routine: oatmeal and 🍌, followed by iced latte and kindle. I‘m something of a creature of habit.
#12daysofbookstagram — book and beverage
Today‘s #12daysofbookstagram prompt is nightstand, which forces me to confess to everyone that my nightstand only occasionally hosts my kindle and no other book related items. Instead of staging something for you, here is our other end table-Tom uses it for his book stacks and other necessities.
I know pics of my kindle are boring, but today‘s #12daysofbookstagram is flat lay, so …🤷🏼♀️
I may not be able to take an appropriately aligned book photo, but I‘d like to think that doesn‘t translate to my gallery wall. If anyone has a level I can borrow to check the alignments of these, hit me up 😂 #12daysofbookstagram — more than books
4th day of #12daysofbookstagram is favorite quote. I don‘t really have a favorite quote, but I do love Winnie the Pooh and having friends so this will work. ❤️💛
Reading spot is day 3 of the #12daysofbookstagram so here‘s my corner of the couch. I will usually load up the end table with iPad, kindle, real books, and provisions and there‘s almost always a blanket involved for maximum coziness. 🤗
Day 2 of #12daysofbookstagram is stack! I‘ve chosen the “cookbooks that don‘t get stored in the kitchen” stack. The filing system goes something like this: books I would be upset if something got spilled on them stay out of the kitchen unless being used (generally). The back story of this system begins with a melting ice cube and the Lord Howe cookbook; you can fill in the ending on your own 😜
I thought Modern Mrs Darcy‘s #12daysofbookstagram would be even more fun with all my Littens, so here‘s day 1 (the prompt is book). The top 2 are my current reads and the bottom 2 are some recent finishes. The biggest take away from this is that despite BEING AN ENGINEER I cannot take a lined up photo under any circumstances. Send me all your leveling devices; I clearly need as many as possible.
Today the weather spoke to me.
“Dr. Beth, today is the day you make your first book rainbow”
And so it was done 🌈 📚 💙
When your book matches both your drink AND the weather…🤗🤗 It‘s the best thing about the week of rain we‘re having in the STL
Maybe this is the 2018 talking, but why do the Dashwoods end up with any compassion for Willoughby, certified garbage person? This is only my second time reading this, so it was another great reading experience, etc, etc, Pride and Prejudice is still my favorite
The next section of Modern Mrs Darcy‘s book flight bonanza was posted yesterday! I was expecting this section to be new books paired with all classics, but I still think there are some interesting pairings here. My first picks from this section will either be Not That I Could Tell because it sounds like everything I want in a book, or The Wedding Date, which has the built in bonus of already being on my kindle. What would you pick??
Finished my Letter M pick for #LitsyAtoZ yesterday! Sure, this book is a little bit wacky, but as the sister of a Scooby-Doo obsessed person (👋 @kitty_reads ) there were plenty of references to the show to scratch that nostalgia itch. There were things I didn‘t love, but it was generally an enjoyable read. 3.5⭐️
Is anyone else doing the Book Flight Bonanza from Modern Mrs Darcy? I‘ve already read part of some of the flights, so I‘m thinking of finishing the Romanov flight with I Was Anastasia. Or maybe start a fresh one with News of the World/Tribe? What do you think Littens??
Next up in #LitsyAtoZ is Goodbye Christopher Robin. Reading to be completed under the supervision of my extremely well loved Winnie the Pooh.
I confess, I viciously mocked @kitty_reads when this title and its sequel (The Antique House Murders) appeared in the family Amazon account. Then I needed a B title for #LitsyAtoZ and this was already on my kindle. It was an amusing cozy, I very much enjoyed it, I will be reading the sequel. Shorty—please accept my apologies for mocking (apology only applies to this title)
Oh boy, this book…👎🏻👎🏻 and that‘s probably a generous rating. I‘m not even sure why I finished it. This poorly constructed mystery is translated from French and it‘s possible some things were lost along the way. Unfortunately, I have no desire to dust off my high school French skills to find out so that will remain the most compelling mystery of this book. No stars given.
#LitsyAtoZ #LetterQ
On this rainy Presidents‘ Day, I‘m indulging in the obvious activities: tea and the British monarchy
Thanks to @Mdargusch I crossed another book off my TBR!! I loved this story of teenage grief and how June‘s relationships change as she grapples with the loss of her uncle. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Some quick 3 word reviews from the 2nd half of the alphabet for #LitsyAtoZ:
Rabbit Cake-all the emotions
SEGC-light and predictable
Uncommon Type-fine, slightly forced
Northanger Abbey-entertaining and diverting
So far I‘ve read 9 of 26 books! How is everyone else doing with this challenge?
Here I am! My #litsyavatar and profile pic is from a trip to Denver and the Rockies in September. Did you know Colorado has a state fossil and it is the stegosaurus?? I was so entertained!
My first finished book for #24in48 was The Radicals and I disliked it so much that I didn‘t want to sully my feed with a photo of it. I‘m actually not sure what possessed me to finish it, given that it is a train wreck of bad decisions. Instead of a book pic, please enjoy this photo of my breakfast-cranberry crumb muffins and an iced latte.
I have my stack of choices prepared for tomorrow! First up is The Radicals on my iPad since it expires on Tuesday #24in48
