Picked up for a good Halloween read and wasn‘t disappointed. It isn't crazy scary and is more of a Gothic romance, but that is a genre I very much enjoy and Darkling hit all the marks on being both creepy and yet somehow emotional. It really is at its heart a story about grief, with the fantastical elements bringing to the forefront themes about loss, love and death. I highly recommend it!
