I loved the setting of this novelette, and the fable-ish quality of the prose. The ending felt a little abrupt, but the whole journey getting there was just lovely.

The Lilies of Dawn is my #Recommendsday & #octphotochallenge for Day 12
It's a lyrical & poetic fairy tale about a young woman, Kai, who lives in a village near a lake whose surface is covered by water lilies every year. The people of this village rely on the nectar for a variety of reasons, the chief being to create medicines. But 7 years ago white cranes started ravaging the lily fields! So Kai & her people must devise a plan to protect them.
