Mehso-so

A Bengali tale of love & coming-of-age that's bound in tradition, #Devdas is a marvellous story, albeit tragic. The Bollywood adaptation is my all-time fav film. This novel, however, is a poor translation. Much of the translation is extremely literal rather than contextual, which makes a huge difference when expressing certain cultural elements. It was jarring & confusing. This English edition gets ⭐️⭐️ from me. #DiverseBookBloggers #SouthAsianLit

Nafiza Oh that's too bad. Not that i want to revisit after that movie that made smithereens of my heart. 8y
BiblioNyan Oh yeah, it tears you up terribly. But it was just such a fantastic feat of filmmaking. 8y
