Heartbroken. Edie Windsor passed away. She sued the US for passing DOMA, allowing states to refuse recognition of same-sex marriages. I deeply admire her perseverance & courage to fight for her & others' rights. I had the honor of meeting her a few years ago when this book came out. She was such a kind soul with an infectious smile. No matter how old you are, never give up fighting for what's right. You can make a difference. 🌹💔🌈

It's #Recommendsday! "Even if you know the story of Edie Windsor & Thea Spyer, this is an extraordinarily gripping, moving, & entertaining book. Kaplan‘s writing is clear, concise & accessible & deftly weaves her personal story with the larger marriage equality movement. Even knowing the outcome, this read like a suspenseful page-turner. One of the best pieces of narrative non-fiction I have ever read." - @MicheleinPhilly #nonfictionnovember

read_diverse_books I keep forgetting #Recommendsday! Thanks for the reminder. This book sounds great. 8y
