Arnold Friend from "Where Are you Going, Where Have you Been" By Joyce Carol Oates. One truly terrifying dude!
Do any of you follow Joyce Carol Oates on twitter? She is hilarious (and smart). I love her cat related tweets.
My favorite part of teaching 9th Grade English is the slow reading (over a month) of this story in class -- sentence by paragraph by section. I would change almost everything in the Curriculum if I could, but I'd leave this story.
