Alex is a transracial adoptee, the child of a black father and white mother, adopted by a white couple.

While there are parts that are good, the book feels far too short to develop the themes it raises. The ending feels rushed.

Finished the first bit of knitting on a mystery knit-a-long. Now I have to wait till Friday for the next part. Good thing I have about eleventy billion other projects to work on while I read this book.

Not sure what happened with this one, but though there were some rough spots it wasn‘t a bad read...then it just decided to shut down with no resolution to any of the conflicts and crashed on a rather abrupt ending. So much potential, but it was like neither the author or Alex, our narrator, knew what to do with the themes of family dynamics, racial identity, belonging, and first relationships, and Alex‘s love of baseball was tied to all of it.

This book has me up late into the night. Such an important biracial adoptee story.
