I loved this story of unlikely friendship between two lonely and grieving women. Astrid, 81 and Veronika, 32 both lost their mothers as children. As they become closer, Astrid opens up to Veronika about the death of her child many years earlier.

I appreciated more than enjoyed this novel. The short chapters made it easy to stop and start. I needed the break. Although there was beauty I kept hoping there would be some snippet of joy to make it all worthwhile.

This is the second book I‘ve read by Linda Olsson and both of them made me nostalgic for places I have never actually been. A beautiful, lyrical novel.
