So different from what I thought it would be! It wasn‘t the same tone as their podcast, which can be quite snarky (not knocking that!). I found this audiobook to be very heartwarming, thoughtful, and truthful. On top of everything Karen and Georgia are always, always grateful. I very much recommend the audiobook for all the Murderinos out there! 💜🎧 #NonfictionNovember

Written in Spanish by Dolores Redondo and translated into English by Michael Meigs. Redondo is also the author of the immensely popular Baztán trilogy. When Spanish businessman Álvaro is killed in a car accident, his writer husband, Manuel, is suddenly made aware of a secret life that Álvaro never mentioned. Highly recommend this mystery set in Spain! ? #translation #womenauthors #Spain

I‘ve been busy reading for #NonFictionNovember ! Loved YEAR OF THE MONKEY, which focused on death of loved ones. Disappointed in A ROOM OF ONE‘S OWN, which can be summed up in: “A woman needs money and a quiet space in order to write successfully”. 💜

My random number generator picked this book for me out of my collection and it was serendipitous. Coming up on the third anniversary of my own mother‘s death, I don‘t think I was emotionally ready to read Notaro‘s experience before now. It still brought tears, but oh how I could relate!
This book has all the things I want from a memoir: honesty, growth, and at least some happiness to hold on to. Highly recommended!

Picked this manga up in my local comics shop today, looking for something to read in the Halloween season. My thoughts after reading this? I‘m going to have nightmares tonight! The artwork in this book is remarkable. Things go from bad to worse to horrific. Reader beware!

4 stars for the story, a fifth star for Bronson Pinchot's interpretation in voicing the story! This Halloween tale takes a bunch of boys from a small town and sweeps them through the history of Halloween, the cultures and whyfors of traditions through the ages. It tells of the never-ending fear of a new dawn never breaking. Pinchot's voice holds you spellbound - he is SO GOOD!

Just read the first four volumes of Brody‘s Ghost, a graphic novel about a man in the near future who learns to use his psychic power to solve the “Penny Murders”. He‘s encouraged by his new ghost friend Talia. Nice fantasy stuff in between chapters of a chunkster I‘m also reading: Peter The Great.

Covering Rod Serling‘s World War II experience is an important part of what made his personality. Shadmi then covers how Serling fell into writing in college, his professional beginnings in New York, and the highs and lows of working in Hollywood.

I highly recommend this graphic novel for readers of biographies, history, and the entertainment industry.

I thank #NetGalley for the honor of reading this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I admit it – I picked up this book solely on the cover! The name Basil Wolverton didn‘t ring a bell but I had to know who this genius was who created such fabulous art. Turns out he was a comics creator who was born in Oregon in 1909 and began his career in the 1930s. This first volume (of two) covers his early years. I loved this book because Wolverton‘s old school space art is some of the best I‘ve ever seen. 💜

In thinking about if there is an underlying point in this fast-paced story, maybe it‘s that it‘s better to leave power alone, as it might skew one‘s sense of reality and cause very poor decisions which would affect many other people. Now THAT‘S relevant!
I love this series as an escape between more serious books and I recommend it to anyone aged 15+. 💜
