Listening to the tagged audio and trying to not disturb Lucy. Cats have it made.

This is a good story of a boy with a unique eye condition and the challenges he faced as he grew, but it's also a touching story of deep and lasting friendship, and fierce support from those friends and his family. There are some descriptions of bullying and violence, and I wish I had known that before picking it up. I'm still glad I read it, but that awareness will be part of any recommendation I make.
This is really interesting, but not easy to listen to.

I found this beautiful version of one of my all-time favorites today! Definitely a keeper for my home library.
I've already listened to this on audio, which is so good, but I wanted a hardcover for my home library. Supporting #PeteButtigieg and my favorite indie bookstore at the same time is a double win!
I can't feel my legs, but #NeverDisturbTheKitty. Lucy is spoiled. #QueenLucytheValiant #RescueKitty #WhoRescuedWho #CatsofLitsy
A four-day weekend with absolutely no plans, and for two of those days, I'll have the house completely to myself. Considering taking on the tagged book. I've been hesitating because of the impact everyone talks about after reading it. I may barricade myself in my library all weekend. #MyHappyPlace #LoveMyLibrary
Had to work this morning, but nothing beats a Sunday afternoon with a blanket, a cup of tea, and a book. #StayAwayMonday
Her books, and my aunt, made me a reader. ❤
Laura Ingalls Wilder Home and Museum. Mansfield, MO.
Learning about dinosaurs! #RaisingReaders
My view this morning. I came in here to reorganize my library, but ended up reading. 🤷♀️
Hubby and I have been out and about for the past 10 days trying to support the National Park Service (I hear they could stand to replenish their entrance fees🤦♀️). Beautiful vacation, and I came home with a bunch of new bookmarks. #GetOutside #NationalParkService #AmericasBestIdea
Well, this is pretty awesome. 😊 If only she knew... (Not my picture).
This is awesome! I'll be looking for this store when I travel to Colorado later this summer.

Just finished this one on #Overdrive and I will be buying the hardcover. I seriously want to buy a ton of copies and give them to everyone I know. There is so much to be learned here, and it's such an important book. Melinda Gates knocked this one out of the park, and gets to the deepest parts of empathy, compassion, understanding, equality, and explains in an indisputable way how inequality impacts every aspect of life. Go get this book. Now.
Really good so far. I'd recommend it!

Lucy sleeps in the weirdest positions. At least she's not laying across my book this time.
#CatsofLitsy #QueenLucytheValient
I finished it, but it's crap. Basic self help book drenched in trendy language to sell. There are so many good books out there of this genre, don't waste your time on this one.
Morning audio as I get a few things done. So far, just meh. I'm about 1 1/2 hours in, hopefully it gets better.

Found these goodies at yard sales yesterday. Most will end up in my #littlefreelibrary.
I guess Bill Gates and I have different taste in books. Meh. Not what I was expecting, and too much of what I wasn't expecting.
Sometimes, the right book finds you. Nearly four years ago, my family suffered a loss that literally took our breath and, to this day, still often makes it difficult to function. The healing, if it is to be, is far away and a painful journey. Ann Hood's story of the sudden loss of her daughter describes grief in a way that makes you cry "Yes, this is it exactly!". If you or someone you know are wading through grief, I can't recommend this enough.
Excellent story! Mayor Pete is a smart guy, and he tells his story in a great way - very down to earth, very intelligent, very analytical. Even if he weren't a presidential candidate, this is a book I would have read and enjoyed. He just seems like a good guy who would be great to visit with over lunch. I'll be watching him, for sure.
He also reads the audio.

1. My Lola. Fat cat in a little box.
2. Shortest Way Home by Pete Buttigieg. Smart guy, great story.
3. Yard sales, laundry, reading, resting. Not necessarily in that order.
4. Gloomy, a little rainy, but decent temps.
5. We're grazing. No cooking for me tonight.

Today is my birthday and I'm stuck on a work trip, but I managed to find a bookstore. Happy birthday to me!
Excited to start this one on my drive tonight.

Those who will read this are already aware of the signs, but this book gives a factual education and comparison of the ways damage is done to the Democratic system. Looking back historically, the book illuminates the hazards we face, the ways things could/should have been addressed, and what we can do now. I recommend it to everyone, but am completely aware that those who need to understand the most will likely never touch it.

Trying to finish the tagged book this morning, and Lucy is enjoying the laziness. I wonder if she knows that I can't feel my leg? 🐈 #CatsofLitsy #NeverDisturbTheKitty #QueenLucyTheValient
The question came up as I saw a different Litsy post, but I thought I'd ask for more opinions. For those of you who listen to audio books through library services, do you prefer #Overdrive or #Libby, and what are the good and bad of each? I have only ever used Overdrive, but am curious about Libby. *Photo is part of my home library, because I obviously need more books. 🤷♀️
I woke up early this morning, thinking I would have most of the day to sit and read. I was just sitting down when a cork flew out of one of the bottles in our wine rack (who knew that could happen??), flooding the kitchen. 🤦♀️🍷 I just spent the last two hours cleaning wine off of everything and mopping floors. My house smells like wine and Pine-Sol, and the cats are mad because they can't get in the kitchen until it dries. Break time for me.
1. Goodbye Vitamin, First Women, A Year By The Sea, and New Life No Instructions.
2. 🤦♀️
3. 🤞📚🍷

Book mail is the best mail. 📚📚
I listened to this on #Overdrive, and it definitely kept my interest. It was a little too neat and tidy on the ending for me - I don't usually do the "happily-ever-after" endings - but a good story.
This was a LOT of work, but I got to shop early. Just got it all packed up. There was a second room with twice this many books. I'm exhausted. #librariesrock #FriendsOfTheLibrary #BookSale
1. Hope Floats.
2. Probably the Marvel movies.
3. I love Ireland, and still have about 30 National Parks to see. Cambodia is on our list, and most of Europe.
4. I read a ton of biography and memoir, but love similar fiction.
5. Just English. I feel like a slacker.

I finished this one on audio a couple of days ago. I read Nickel and Dimes several years ago (and I think everyone should). I think Maid has threads of that type of book running through it, but just doesn't feel the same. It's true that it's an inside look at the struggles of living and making a life, the challenges of a system that too often fails, but doesn't have the same impact. Still important, still a pick, not the same punch. #Overdrive
Visited some flea markets and antique shops with the hubby yesterday and came home with this little reader to add to my home library. Just perfect!
1. I've considered it, but have never done it. My TBR, though! 😲
2. A fall in the 5th grade. There was mud. Lots of mud. Omg.
3. Tagged!
4. Ohio in May, Colorado and Utah in July, considering Oregon in Setember/October.

Long day at work, peanut butter & jelly sandwich and a glass of wine for dinner. Living the dream! 🍷😊🙋♀️
Sunday evening. ❤
I visited the lovely #littlefreelibrary (at the right of the photo) at #equalityhouse in Kansas today and added two big stacks of books. This is right across the street from those nasty Topeka-based freaks whose name I won't speak. There are actually three painted houses now, and a community garden. #LoveWins
1. Reading, traveling, yard sales, sewing.
2. History, biographies, memoir, good fiction.
3. Two cats: Lola is 17, Lucy is almost 1.
4. For the most part, but I need to check.
5. Books, bookmarks, figures reading books. See a theme? 😄
6. I have two Little Free Libraries!
