Lady in the Tower: The Fall of Anne Boleyn | Alison Weir
9 posts | 23 read | 18 to read
Drawing on myriad sources from the Tudor era, bestselling author Alison Weir provides the first book ever to examine, in unprecedented depth, the gripping story of Anne Boleyn s final days. The Lady in the Tower explores the motives and intrigues of those who helped to seal the queen s fate, unraveling the tragic tale of Anne s fall, from her miscarriage of the son who would have saved her to the final, dramatic scene on the scaffold. What emerges is an extraordinary portrayal of a woman of great courage, tested to the extreme by the terrible plight in which she found herself, a powerful queen whose enemies were bent on utterly destroying her. Horrifying but captivating, The Lady in the Tower presents the full array of evidence of Anne Boleyn s guilt and innocence. Only in Alison Weir s capable hands can readers learn the truth about the fate of one of the most influential and fascinating figures in English history. Look for special features inside. I enjoyed it. I like reading books on king Henry the eighth and his wives. This was an interesting take on queen annes last days.

alt-j is my current favorite band. It's borderline obsessive.
Deadcrush is a wicked good jam. Then I read what it was about and I ADORE IT EVEN MORE!!
How many of you have a deadcrush (literary or not)?

The #endpapers for The Lady in the Tower show a detailed map of the Tower of London. The cover was too beautiful to leave out of the photo.

Poor Anne Boleyn.

I've not yet read this one. Have you?

@RealLifeReading

Clare_Riley Yes - and it was really rather sad. Seemed like a complete and utter set up. I love this period in history. 8y
Libby1 @Clare_Riley - it is all terribly sad. Have you read Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel or the Shardlake series by CJ Sansom? I'd especially recommend the Shardlake series as they're mysteries set during that era. 8y
Clare_Riley @Libby1 yes I have - and thoroughly loved them! 8y

Good read. I like that the author told of things that had been written before about Anne and told why he didn't think it was accurate.

On to Weir number three... Having loved Elizabeth's story, it's time for that of her mother.
