Revisiting Buffy ❤️
Wow, so much happens in this one. Let me mention some highlights.
1) Xander gets to meet up and work with Dracula again. Hilarity ensues.
2) A giant Dawn (who has been a giant since volume 1) ends up on the streets of Tokyo. You can guess what happens next except no you can't there's another part you won't see coming.
3) Buffy has sex with a woman. Which is an interesting character development, albeit seeming a bit forced.
Overall, great stuff.
Quite fun, but not as fun as the last one. 3 bones to pick with the whole Buffy sleeps with a woman thing:
1) why are we supposed to care about some random slayer Satsu we hardly know?
2) IF BUFFY WAS GOING TO SLEEP WITH A WOMAN WHY THE HELL WASN'T IT FAITH WITH WHOM SHE HAS SIZZLING CHEMISTRY?!?
3) every discussion of this plotpoint is just steeped in monosexism; it's like literally everyone who works on BTVS has never heard of bisexuality.
I'm loving reading this series! Being able to see Buffy and the gang still is action is so fun! 💪
I love that they brought Dracula back for the comics, because he was such an entertaining element in the one episode he was in. (And this isn't a spoiler, he's on the cover of Volume 3)
I'm starting this one today, because it just feels weird to not have a graphic novel not in my current reads. And I ❤️ Buffy.
I finished my Goodreads reading challenge! I've been setting my goal at 50 for the past several years, but since I knew I was probably going to be reading a lot of comics and romance novellas I decided to inflate the goal this year to make up for the shorter stuff I'd be reading. I'm pretty close to 50 if you take out comics, so I'm also just reading a ton more this year. Thanks to Litsy, in large part!
This was, so far, the most "comic booky" story arc of season 8, and that's not necessarily a good thing. It has some fun moments, but it really likes the real world believability that Buffy usually had, even at its most ridiculous moments. Not my favorite, by any means. Hoping the next one is more grounded in reality. #buffythevampireslayer
This is so ridiculous
I can't stop laughing over Dracula as the petty ex-boyfriend I really can't
