panWas a so-so until near the end. Waaay too much going on here, and the author can‘t understand punctuation, so there are sentence fragments everywhere that a , or ; would solve.
Mob leader gets convicted and hires assassin to take out everyone in the courtroom unless he‘s freed. Jury member Margo is on the list, security expert/professional “protector” Striker is on the job. Cue fireworks. (More in comments)
ravenlee Plot problem 1: is this a high-tension blow off steam with volatile sex that transitions to love story? Or an “I have trust/relationship issues that I have to work through before I can love anyone” story? Both, which doesn‘t work. 4y
ravenlee Plot problem 2: there‘s also a disgruntled ex-boyfriend who won‘t let her go; but he also has a psycho friend who wants revenge for a convoluted story prior to the book beginning. So there‘s a kidnapping plot. 4y
ravenlee Plot problem 3: there‘s also a disgruntled ex-mistress of Margo‘s wealthy uncle/guardian who wants revenge on Margo for getting her dumped, so there‘s another attempted murder plot. 4y

ravenlee Various minor plot problems: a psychic investigator who gets all sorts of useless but personal flashes, the way the assassin tracks his victims, the obsession the assassin exhibits when he‘s supposed to be a hired gun...there‘s a lot going on. 4y
ravenlee Also, this is clearly the start of a new series that was a spin-off of a previous series - because we get introduced to all the MCs from that other series and peeks of backstory, plus all the new characters whose romance stories will follow in books to come...really, I‘m amazed I even skimmed through this when I should have just bailed. Whew! Sorry for the rant. 4y
ravenlee Oh yeah, I forgot plot problem 4: yet another character turns out to be - gasp - trying to kill Margo for reasons that are almost entirely superfluous to the plot. Apparently she‘s a pretty unpopular lady. 4y
