What I like about this book is how it incorporates artists and musicians all people would be familiar with. For me Tupac was one that stood out to me.

Great book that gives history on hip hop and jazz. The book includes around 50 poems that are performed by a variety of diverse artists and musicians. The art style depends on the poem that is being told which is a unique feature of the story.

I think this would just be a fun, cool thing to have access to in the classroom. There could totally be something in there too that the class as a whole has a hook onto and can be played when cleaning up or transitioning as well.

A collection of poems by famous people. They speak on anything you can imagine! It is a really cool concept, it comes with a CD because most of the poems have beats that go with them.

Genre P. Theme of the book Is mix, but is mostly about inclusion, history, and acceptance. “Hip Hop Speaks to children; a celebration of poetry with a beat” is a beautiful book that introduces poetry to children; It can be used to compare and contrast the different styles of poetry writing or as part of a history lesson. I enjoy them so much; some make me laugh; some make me cry. It even has martin Luther king Jr “I have a dream“ full speech.

Jennymmm One of my favorites was “BOOKS” I definitely relate to it. I also enjoy “We wear the mask” and “Who will cry?” This book introduces children to the history of hip-hop and poetry. It comes with an audio CD to complement the reading, with songs, poems, and speeches.

I would read this to 2nd and 3rd graders. It's a bigger book so I think it is geared towards older elementary kids. The pictures and words are great for 2nd and 3rd graders who want to read poetry books.

This book is a poetry book with a sprinkle of hip hop. It gets students excited to read poetry and will allow them to have a fun time practicing poems with different beats. This would be great to use as a Readers theater.
