This Realistic fiction (RF) book is about a kid who doesn‘t want his pet fish Norman. This is a great read for students and it teaches them about loving what you have. The teaching strategy I would use for this is Readers Theatre (RT). RT is a great way for student to show and act out how the characters feel in the book. It‘ll get students moving and it‘ll help with understanding since they are able to put themselves in the book.

WendyV I love your idea for RT! I haven‘t heard of this book before but I just finished two books that featured a goldfish. After reading your post, I think I need this to add to my collection of goldfish books! 7y

DrSpalding We read this book to over 100, four and five-year-olds to celebrate read for the record 2015! Excellent choice. Because the story is told from a dog‘s point of view, we had canine companions provide puppies and dogs for the children. As we read, the dogs barked! It was a wonderful experience.ā¯¤ļø¸š“š• 7y

I love a picture book that puts what might be considered a diverse character in an everyday, ordinary situation. It is important for our children/students to see themselves in cultural and ordinary situations.
