Taxi | Khaled Al Khamissi
2 posts | 2 read | 4 to read

Yesterdays dinner was a Lentil Salad from #Egypt with self-made Tarator Sauce. Simple, but so, so tasty! I love lentils 😍

Pickpick

Al-Chamissi often uses the taxi and while be driven to his destinations the drivers talk. About their families, their jobs, their troubles. About politics, religion, and life itself. They all are different, they talk differently, their views are different. Like this the reader gets an intimate insight into Kairo and #Egypt at the beginning of this century. Now I wonder how much has changed since then...

Butterfinger That sounds fascinating. 2y
bnp This sounds like an awesome way to get a glimpse a particular time & place. 2y

MariaW Ever since I moved to Cairo four years ago I have this one sitting on the shelf. 🙈 The taxi drivers of Cairo and in Egypt in general are very talkative and know some words in almost every language. 😊 2y
Jari-chan @MariaW Wow, that's impressive! Let me know what you think when you've read the book, and how your own experiences are 😊 2y
