My New Teacher and Me!
My New Teacher and Me! | Al Yankovic
1 post | 1 read
"Weird Al" Yankovic's new tale of Billy, the irrepressible star of the New York Times bestselling When I Grow Up, is an uproarious back-to-school delight. Dazzling wordplay and sparkling rhyme combine in a unique appreciation of the rewards of unabashed originality and the special joy of viewing the world gently askew.

My New Teacher and Me! is a MF picture book written by Al Yankovic, aka “Weird Al” and illustrated by Wes Hargis. Billy may be a small boy, but he has a big imagination. Mr. Booth, Billy‘s new teacher, is just not having it with Billy‘s stories and he definitely does not have the wild imagination that Billy has. Kids will absolutely love all of Billy‘s stories—even if they‘re far from the truth. #ucflae3414su19

MeganKlein This book would also be perfect for a RA (maybe even on the first day of school)! EL strategy 6 (monitor students‘ comprehension) and UDL strategy 2.1 (clarify vocabulary and symbols) align with this text and teachers can pre-teach a few vocabulary words from the text. Asking discussion questions through the RA helps assess overall student comprehension. The link provided is a book trailer narrated by Al Yankovic himself. 5y
MeganKlein It might be wise to show this trailer to students before reading so they will become more engaged and excited to read it. https://youtu.be/BAsHsR-2N1E Also, I just want to note that my little sister (going into 3rd grade) loved reading this to me and I think so many students will enjoy reading about Billy‘s stories too! 5y
