Over the Ocean
Over the Ocean | Taro Gomi
20 posts | 11 read | 3 to read
Renowned children's book creator Taro Gomi has created another masterpiece. In this beautiful testament to wondering, a young girl gazes out to where the water meets the sky and wonders what lies beyond the waves. Boats filled with toys? Skyscrapers filled with people? Houses filled with families? Or, maybe, over the ocean stands someone not so different from the girl herself, returning her gaze. In this celebration of imagination's power, young readers will find joy in the mystery of the faraway, the unknown, and the just-beyond. Plus, this is the fixed-format version, which looks almost identical to the print edition!

Pickpick

Over the Ocean by Taro Gomi does not give a publish date. This book is a great example of a picture book! All the colors and designs are so out there it just draws you in! I highly recommend this book!

I like this book because it gets the kids thinking. Hm what really could be over the ocean! Good slightly interactive book.

I would say the book is appropriate for older ages simply because it makes you think about the world and what is beyond the edge of the ocean. I would use this book in classroom to start up the conversation over the question, “What do you think is beyond the ocean?“

Over the Ocean written by Taro Gomi. This book is about a child who is wondering what is beyond the edge of the ocean and comes up with a lot of different, unique ideas. The illustrations in this book are unique because all that's changing is the scenery above the ocean line and the illustrations change with the context.

Over the ocean shows the wonder and imagination of a child. It shows just how far the mind can stretch when looking over the ocean , and how wonderful the world is in their eyes.

The same basic illustration stayed the same but from page to page certain images where replaced with new ideas. I found the repetition endearing and intriguing when the images changed.

I love the illustrations and how the bottom of the page remains the same drawing of the child standing in-front of the ocean. Every time you turn the page, there‘s a new idea the child came up with. Great job of capturing a child‘s imagination.

Cute Japanese book about young girl imagining what lies on the other side of her ocean. Originally published in 1979, but just recently translated into English. Has a very retro feel. #childrenslit #picturebook ⭐️⭐️⭐️
