Holy (no pun intended) heck, WHAT A BOOK. Seriously. I was expecting a creepy ghost story, but rather I found a brilliant and gripping story about religion, duality in man, madness, grief, and redemption. Almost cinematic in writing and something that sticks with you. A heavy read despite only being around 340 pages, but one that will leave you breathless.

This isn't in the Litsy database but I snagged this for a buck a few weeks ago and I'm a sucker for short horror stories! There's something to be said for a story that packs a punch in a little package. Hoping this is worth it!

While indeed a ghost story, Salvage read more a like a mystery/thriller to me. That's simply to say it wasn't as "scary" as I was anticipating, but I still really enjoyed it! At times, it read slow for me, due to the well written, detailed descriptions. It picked up towards the end and held my attention throughout the entire book.

Side Note: The version I read included a short story from Gristle & Bone that seemed to be more my style.

When Owen Saddler's sister drowns in mysterious circumstances, he travels to Peace Falls and the remains of a town now underwater to find out what happened. Part mystery/part ghost story, this was a decent read but not as scary as I had hoped.
