The #1 New York Times bestselling "queen of paranormal romance"* is back with a sexy new series starring a Chicago crime family that hides a dark, mystical secret... Whether it's fast cars or fast women, Stefano Ferraro gets what he wants. When he's not fodder for the paparazzi, he commands Ferraro family businesses--both legitimate and illegitimate. While their criminal activity is simply a rumor yet to be proven, no one knows the real truth. The Ferraros are a family of shadow riders capable of manipulating light and dark, an ability Stefano thought ran in his family alone--until now... With little left to her name, Francesca Cappello has come to Chicago in hopes of a new life. She wasn't expecting to attract the attention of a man with primal hunger in his eyes, driven to claim her as his to protect and to please. And if he discovers her secret, it could ruin her...

I actually loved the main story line a lot and the shadow riders were an exciting take for a male protagonist. The characters and town are what makes me want to come back for more. The romance, however, definitely left a lot to be desired. I don‘t enjoy overbearing male characters and although Francesca is a strong female protagonist I didn‘t enjoy their relationship.

I have to admit that this is one of the better Feehan books I‘ve read recently- her series always start out strong. I had to turn off my inner feminist for this one, but as a fantasy it was entertaining and kept me reading. I‘m excited to see where this series goes. #romantsy #romance

I don't even want to admit I read this! It was repetitive and the sexy times were even boring. The only reason why I finished this at all was to see how the urban fantasy side of it turned out.

Don't waste your time, y'all!

Paranormal heroes' un-pc behavior is an intrinsic part of the fantasy (if you think a lion-changer should be pc, get out of the zoo)! This hero rides shadows and kills bad guys --definitely straining logic in his murderous Robin Hood instincts--but he's classic Feehan. He sees her, he wants her, he kills the bad guy. It was total catnip, tho sometimes skated uncomfortably close to the 50s...tuck away your inner feminist and you'll enjoy! #romantsy

Unique premise. Assassins who can travel using shadows.
Francesca is in hiding from the man who killed her sister, so the last thing she needs is a high profile playboy wanting to date her.
Stefano is powerful in every way. And he's a Shadow Rider. This is hot, but also romantic and suspenseful.

So bad. So so bad. Take out the references to the hero's dangerous barely leashed violent feral powerful commanding burning lethal force -- or take away Feehan's thesaurus-- and half the book is gone.

SheilaEnglish I loved it. The premise is interesting and fresh. I get that you found some of the writing repetitive but was that enough to hate the entire story? 9y
