Though it's YA, this is a book anyone interested in WWII should read. Inspired by the Russian female bomber pilots the Germans called the Nachthexen(the Night Witches), this book educated me about a part of the war that I knew nothing about. It has solid historical roots and accuracy and deviation from fact is acknowledged by the author in the Author's Notes at the end of the book. It is also human, feminist, anti-war and very character driven.

I started reading this one today - so far, so good

The night witches are one of my favorite historical things (people? stories?) so I hope this is good.

This beauty is the only non-BOTM book I‘m allowing myself to buy without a bingo. I pre-ordered it months ago. It fits right along with the Russia kick I‘ve been on for a while. I‘m so excited.

I received a signed bookplate in the mail from Gwen Katz today! Too bad I still have a month before the book comes out. 😢 I do love anything with female pilots in WW2...
