Set in isolated deep in the mountains Georgia. The story revolves around Earl who returns home after 30 years having been banished by his snake handling religious father after standing up to him. Receiving a cryptic letter indicating that his father has risen from the dead, he returns home to find out the truth. With a flawed antihero, wonderful secondary characters and a setting dripping with atmosphere, a must read.The first book in the series.

A really excellent debut of a mystery series set in the north Georgia mountains. Lots of snakes, though.
