Pickpick

I believe most, if not all, the letters between Fitzgerald and Hemingway are in this volume. So are letters by them to others (i.e. Max Perkins) where Scott will discuss Ernest or vice versa. Bruccoli uses these as a means of evidence in showing the complicated relationship between the two, and what they thought of each other's works. Some photos also. The reader needs to have more than a passing interest in these two authors. As I do 👍

Hollie This is on my TBR, I love learning about both of these guys, and the Lost Generation writers in general! :) 8y
ValerieAndBooks @Hollie I am now wanting to look into other Lost Generation writers also 😊. I've read some Gertrude Stein already in the past. 8y
Jess_Read_This Awesome review! I cannot wait to dive into this one. I just started listening to a few podcasts about Dorothy Parker. Hemingway's name appears a few times; apparently she thought quite highly of him.. though he didn't share the sentiment. 8y
ValerieAndBooks @Jess_Read_This All I have by Dorothy Parker is a poetry collection, I should read her non-prose. I have Hemingway vs Fitzgerald from the library, I need to get cracking on that one b/c I've already renewed it once without starting it yet 😬 8y

It came today! "There is no need to aggrandize either Fitzgerald or Hemingway at the other's expense". Great paragraph, too. Trying very hard not to jump right in ?-- I have too many current reads right now !

ValerieAndBooks @Jess_Read_This has your copy come in yet? 8y
LeahBergen This sounds good! 8y
Jess_Read_This @ValerieAndBooks Not yet.. I bought it from an Amazon seller and they have quite an extensive window of time for shipping.. 😐 8y

Jess_Read_This @ValerieAndBooks 🤦🏽‍♀️This opening paragraph isn't helping with the suspense! 😂💕📚💕 8y
saresmoore Writers are bad risks as friends and spouses. Ha! 8y
ValerieAndBooks @LeahBergen I think it will be (hopefully)! @Jess_Read_This I promise I won't torture you with lots of posts about this 😂. think I'll be able to (mostly) stay away from it for now. @saresmoore I thought that comment was funny, too! When people don't get upset about a book/writer probably means it was too nice and boring. 8y
Lmstraubie When you are in the middle of reading another book, but the new one you really want to read arrives. #littenproblems 8y
ValerieAndBooks @Lmstraubie I know right! It is a #littenproblem for sure 😊. But, more motivation to finish up at least one of my current reads! 8y
Jess_Read_This Would you believe I just got my copy a few days ago! Worst Amazon seller ever 😡 An alert told my it was delivered to Fayetteville Arkansas.. I live in MI. I was told not to worry, wrong tracking, and two weeks later I get it. A former lib copy that was not mentioned as such. Ugh. But I have a copy and that's what matters. 🙃 8y
ValerieAndBooks @Jess_Read_This ugh!! I definitely would complain if you haven't already. Maybe you can get a full refund without having to return it? I actually just started reading mine last night 😊 8y
