“...helping people. No matter where they were from. No matter what others thought. No matter what the cost.”

I was so fascinated at how simple and light the pictures were. I can‘t help but think that‘s exactly how Jane would want it - not flashy, but simple and to the point.

Such an amazing book about a woman not many people know about. Jane‘s story is inspiring, emotional, and heart-warming. I think children would appreciate this book and find it great, but as they get older, this book will mean so much more. Such a great story to read.

This book represents the warm heart of Jane and how she felt for and wanted to help those who were poor. I tells the story of how she went after her beliefs and opened a place that welcomed everyone that provided her neighbors needs. This created the Women‘s Peace Party. Genre: Biography; Published: 2017; Illustrator: Alice Ratterree

#ANewChapter Day 22: Jane Addams was no stranger to heartache and pain, having lost her mother at 2yo and suffering from a disease that made her back crooked when she was young. It was no surprise that she empathized deeply with people who felt #unwanted, unloved, and live in the fringes of society. My review of this fascinating picturebook biography which shows how acts of kindness can be considered “dangerous”: https://wp.me/pDlzr-jfV

The first american woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize was once considered dangerous. At times she was thought of as a traitor, or a spy, but all she really wanted was for people to live in harmony, not be hungry, and to do good in life. This is a fabulous book about a woman most kids do not learn about in school. I am glad to see that her contributions are being shared for more audiences.
