Ok, here‘s my #firstworldproblems #netgalley rant for the day: Penguin‘s Viking group is the WORST for letting books rot on my pending shelf. I seem to rarely get approved, but instead of denying my request, they just do nothing and THEN, leave the books on netgalley WAY past the pub date. All of this clogs up my pending shelf. Knopf is also bad about this. Does this annoy anyone else?

Well-ReadNeck I had one book on my pending shelf for over 18 months. It was over a year after publication that it finally disappeared (which “counts” as a denial) 7y
Well-ReadNeck Yes, petty. And, yes, I‘m taking the obvious step ... checking publisher and not requesting from them. 😝 (edited) 7y
FantasyChick I've had a few books on my pending shelf for months. Drives me nuts. 😑 7y

MarriedtoMrT I‘ve only had this happen once (I don‘t request often) but it bugs me, too, that it‘s there. The book is published now and I bought it so can they just deny it so it will go away? I don‘t like loose ends. 7y
julesG Yep. Annoys me. Some publishers at least deny me and that's fine, but keeping the request pending is just lazy. 7y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled I wish I could just delete them myself. A “never mind” button would be most welcome. 7y
