This picture is a good representation of how the last few “work” days have gone. We are doing some homeschooling, but keeping it very laid back for everyone. Finished this book last night—and while I did enjoy it, I‘d say it was among Jenny Colgan‘s weakest. That said- it was an easy read and still put a smile on my face.

I read this Feb 18-23 and gave it 3 ⭐️. Unlike the previous two books, this one was far more enjoyable. The story is predictable in the outcome but it‘s cute. Colgan‘s books are enjoyable reads because they are cute and warm. (I am giving this a so-so because it wasn‘t a pick but I did like it a lot.)

Quick fun read. I love the quirky characters and the humor in some scenes. I found that there were some similarities between Harry and Lennox from The Bookshop on the Corner. It was an easy lighthearted story. But I think all the characters could've been more developed and the ending between Katie and Harry seemed forced, their relationship could've been more developed too.

Slower start, but the last third was hilarious.

If this hadn‘t been an #earlyreviewer book I probably would have bailed. All in all, it wasn‘t as bad as I thought it would be. Still, there were really no likable or sympathetic characters or anything to which I could relate. Okay, I liked Francis the dog. The plot and ending were predictable. Definitely not Colgan‘s best. Two ⭐️ Definitely not what I needed to get me out of my reading slump.

I received an email from UPS saying I had a package arriving and I wondered what could it be since I'm not expecting any package. I was surprised to see it was this ARC !

According to the publisher's date this book was published on 2011, so I wonder why are they sending out ARCs of this now 🤔

The question of what to read next was just answered with the delivery of this #LibraryThing #earlyreviewer book. Interesting to note that the copyright date is 2011. Not sure if this is just now being released in the US. Should be interesting. I‘ve liked some of Colgan‘s books that I‘ve read, others not so much. She‘s not an author I‘d go out of my way to read. So we shall see.

I probably should have bailed early on, but I just couldn‘t bear to have 3 DNFs in a row in the first week of the year. The characters and plot are fairly shallow and insipid. The ending was completely predictable.

A bit slow and waffley, but a nice story. City girl gets sent to the highlands, meets the wrong man, but eventually ends up with the right one.
