I overall think this book is a great, lighthearted read that makes a great addition to any classroom library.

The pictures within this book are very simplistic, almost like sketches added onto the page. I think this fits the dynamic of the story and the way it is written very well.

This book is perfect for bus saftey and the end of the day pickup story.

2003 🏆😒😻😢🥹🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩This book is a TIMELESS CLASSIC. The way the pidgeon is consistently side eyeing and getting into trouble with the simple thought bubbles that show its emotions is halarious. Not only is it captivating to read but also to look at. I am sat.

This story can teach children how to be patient and kind to others. In the story, the pigeon was demanding and impatient which led him to yelling at one of his friends. My students will learn that is not an appropriate way to talk to others.

A fun activity I could with the book is to have the students create their own bus and write or say if they would let the pigeon drive the bus. This could be a great way to have the kids laugh but also engage them.

The pictures by Mo Willems are simple but very funny and full of feeling. The big shapes and faces show what the pigeon is thinking and feeling. The plain white background helps us pay attention to the pigeon‘s actions. The drawings look like quick sketches, which makes the story fun and lively for kids.

The words are also very descriptive of feeling and emotion. The simplicity of the illustrations allows the reader to easily track what is happening. This is a great book for early learners.

As students, they are doing what the nice bus driver asked rather than letting the pidgin take advantage of us by letting him drive the bus

“I‘ll be your best friend!“ This is part of the pigeon‘s increasingly desperate attempts to convince the reader to let him drive the bus. It‘s a great example of the humor and persuasive tactics that make the story so fun.

I would use this book in my classroom as a read aloud to show students the meaning behind promises, persuasion and consequences.

This story was one of my favorites growing up, it is engaging and very humorous to younger children. This story address the reader directly which is a great way for new readers to be engaged and excited about reading.
