As though I needed a reason to move Korda‘s book to the top of my #TBR. I‘m embarrassed at my ignorance before I saw these two movies but can‘t wait to start this book.
(Three Billboards is great, too, but no bookish connection 😄)
(Also, non-bookish: Has anyone seen The Shape of Water?)
I love books that dive deep into the “how, why and who” of history. How events came to be, reflections on why people acted as they did, and why this all matters today. I loved this book, which talks about Britain‘s entry into WWII and ends with the retreat at Dunkirk which saved thousands of lives and allowed the British to keep fighting. A great follow up if you‘ve seen Christopher Nolan‘s new “Dunkirk” film.
We are excited for these new reads! Particularly Alone by Michael Korda which presents the events leading up to the Battle of Dunkirk, while also discussing the author's own personal experience during this time in history. 🙀
Going through book mail. This is just a tiny hint of how awesome September is going to be
