I think maybe this book just wasn‘t for me. ☹️ I love the idea of a satire on fairy tales, but to me the humor felt too forced and the book was too long.

So I didn‘t actually enjoy this one as much as the previous two. :( I loved Thrawn and Thrawn: Alliances (loved the team-up with Vader in that one). For whatever reason the plot of this one didn‘t grab me as much. I‘m definitely interested in a fourth one though!

One of the things I love most about Sarah J. Maas is how she can start off a story one way and you think you know where this is all going, and then she switches things around and takes the story in a completely different direction that is even better. Can‘t wait to read the next one!

Feenbraut I am reading that too right now. Currently on page 283 and love every moment of it. Shoud do the washing and help my kids with their homework but sorry...too busy reading 😬 5y
Jediash1 @Feenbraut ha ha I know the feeling! I read before going to work in the morning and I never want to stop! ;) 5y

I had no idea about the history this book was based on, and it breaks my heart. Children in the late 1930s South are being kidnapped from their parents and adopted out to wealthy families. The orphanage runners profit from these adoptions, while abusing and neglecting these children. I‘m grateful Lisa Wingate is sharing this story, so this heartbreaking history is not forgotten. It reminds us to be vigilant and be a voice for justice.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Love this one 💔💔 5y

An interesting read about a serious cholera epidemic in Victorian London and the investigator who figures out how to end it. It reminded me what a blessing it is to have easy access to good healthcare and clean water, and how we need to make sure that everyone has access to these things.

I don‘t even know how to describe “The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle” without getting into spoilers, but I was amazed by this book. It has some of the feelings of a classic murder mystery, but answer to the mystery is definitely not what I would have guessed. The story takes some strange and unexpected turns. Highly recommend!

RachelAmphlett I found it was one of those books that took me a while to get into, but I was really glad I stuck with it. 5y

I picked up The Nightingale at a book swap event and wasn‘t prepared for how deeply this book would move me. It‘s a portrait of two sisters living in occupied France during WWII. Though the book is fiction, it raises awareness about the untold stories of women in wartime - their courage, their determination, and the ways they fight for what is good and right in the world. A powerful book - highly recommend.
