5⭐️ I picked the book up due to seeing the third book in the series being prominent in a number of book groups on Facebook. I was really surprised that I really enjoyed it. I think it was because it just it was an interesting story and was very riveting. #2024 #fiction #psycologicalthriller #contempoary

4⭐️ Really liked this one; loved how the author unveiled the story. And I really liked that she chose #1920s Ireland as the setting of the book. Learned about a little about the Irish War of Independence (kinda weird that I am now on season 3 of Downton, which sort of has this as a plot point as well) and really liked the characters. #bookclub #fiction #historicalfiction #war #romance #2024 #timetravel

On my nightstand I have The Summer Book Club by Susan Mallery (📖), Enough by Cassidy Hutchinson (📱) and Alice Munro‘s Best: Selected Stories by Alice Munro (📱), of which is a slow but steady for me. I am going to start The Midnight Library by Matt Haig (📖), which should a fairly quick read, as I have read it 3 times ⤵️

#bookreport & #weeklyforecast
#finished: Finished two books this week and enjoyed both of them.

#currentlyreading: Didn't finish The Maid for a book club meeting but I imagine that I will be able to do so this week. Started Enough on audio and its a little more eyeopening than I expected. Also started The Summer Book Club and I probably can get that completed this week as well. I am just at a standstill with Alice Munro's Best at the moment.

melissajayne #upcoming: I hope to restart The Essex Serpent and start The Midnight Library this week.

Happy reading 📚😊

4 ⭐️ This was a #bookclub selection and a #reread in April. And I enjoyed it much more this time than I did the first time that I read it. I think it was because I could comprehend it better this time around than I did the first time. I liked the interspersing of newspaper columns with the story. Even though there are some dark themes in this book, I found it to be fairly easy to read. #2024 #bookreview #fiction #greatdepression

Catching up for April and May.

For April, my favourite was Cutting for Stone. It was a reread for me, as I had read it a number of years ago and just loved the book. It is definitely a favourite read for April.

May was a little disappointing, as I only got The Turtle House completed. I really enjoyed that book as well. I haven't posted that review yet, but I will be doing catch up on book reviews this coming week.

#currentlyreading: All the Light is for a book club meeting; the Alice Munro is a #slowbutsteady (didn't read from it this week); The Music of Bees is for a previous book club meeting and it shouldn't take a lot of time to complete it.

melissajayne #upcomingreads: The Maid is for another book club meeting this week, but since I own my copy and have read it before, I don't foresee it taking me too long to read. The Essex Serpent is a restart for me and I hope to get to it this week. Midnight Library is for a book club meeting later in the month and I don't think it will take me long to read it, as I have quite a bit of time to read it and this will be the fourth time I have read it. 3mo

Starting to pack up my stuff. 😢 For those that are unaware, I am moving in with my parents for a couple of years to recover from my cancer treatments and surgeries. I have been finding it difficult to keep up with the cooking and cleaning of my current place. So my parents are renovating their primary suite into a studio for me to reside in for reside in. My current place, which is about 950 sq ft, will b rented out in the interim.

melissajayne I‘ve got way more books and other stuff to pack up and to get rid of a bunch more stuff. I also have to a very cursory clean of my apartment before I move out. This is just the beginning of the packing up (most of my stuff, including most of my furniture, will end up in storage). I have lived in my place for about 15 years now. (edited) 5mo

#currentlyreading: Read quite a bit this past week, as I spent the wee hours of Saturday morning finishing up A House in the Sky. I also spent quite a bit of Saturday reading The Kingdom, The Power, and The Glory and feel like this will need a reread at some point. I hope to either finish or continue

melissajayne reading the other books that I have in my currently reading pile, in addition to doing some more cleaning out of my apartment.

#upcomingreads: I have to read Fried Green Tomatoes for a book club meeting this week and judging by the chapters, I feel like it should be a fairly quick read. I do plan on working on Wolf Hall.

Happy reading 📚
(edited) 5mo
SarahBookInterrupted I have had Wolf Hall on my bookshelf for 2 years. A friend gave it to me. It‘s so big and I just haven‘t started it because I‘m trying to determine if it will be a slow or quick read. My mother came for Christmas and read it in 3 days but she is an incredibly fast reader. She liked it, but that was all the insight I got. Are you finding it a quick engaging read or is it a slow read and I‘ll need some real time to get into it? 5mo
melissajayne @SarahBookInterrupted I read it within the last ten years and I think it took me awhile to get through it, but mind you I am a slow reader. I found it to be a slower read, as there are a lot of characters that are written into the book (there is a character list that is several pages long). 5mo
SarahBookInterrupted @melissajayne Thanks, that‘s what I thought. It might have to be a summer read for me when I have more time. I appreciate it! 5mo
