Some weeks ago, I discovered a fourth faraway tree book on the library catalog, which immediately caused my mind to explode (once I'd verified it as a legit Enid Blyton, obviously) and finally, FINALLY it has come in for me!
KCorter That cover! 😍 I've never heard of these books, but I am adding them to my TBR now. 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @KCorter, my favourite is The Magic Faraway (which is technically the second book but it doesn't matter at all) I'm a bit obsessive about Enid Blyton books so was shocked to discover this book... it's a bit strange and I think collected from her magazine - as it is told mostly in comic strips and is quite meta as the new characters know of the children and faraway tree gang from their books... 7y

KCorter How did I miss this growing up?! They all look so good. I'll definitely buy them soon, especially if I can find the ones with the Quentin Blake illustrations. 7y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @KCorter, are you American? She doesn't seem to have had much of an impact in the States... Commonwealth superstar tho... I fell in love with reading by going on adventures with her characters - from Secret Seven to The Island of Adventure to The Famous Five... I'd love to know how you find them - please tag me if you remember ☺️ 7y
KCorter I am, but I read quite a bit of British stories as a child. Roald Dahl and Brian Jacques were my favorites. When I finished all the children's books my local library had to offer, the children's librarian turned me on to Charles Dickens and Jane Austen. For an American, I have read barely any of the American classics. Haha 😊 I will definitely let you know when I finish the series! Maybe it can be my next readalong with my boys. 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @KCorter, hope you love them! She's my most owned author ☺️ I love Basil Stag Hare 😂 but I think I've only read the one Redwall book... have only read a little bit of Ronald Dahl too - I was gifted a lot of random paperback cast offs when I was young, so my childhood reading adventures were eclectic! 7y
erzascarletbookgasm I didn't know about this fourth book!? I loved this series when I was a kid. The Wishing Chair series as well :) 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @erzascarletbookgasm, it's interesting but not in the same league as the other books... haven't read the wishing chair 😅 7y
GlassAsDiamonds Oh I loved theses!! (And was obsessed with The Wishing Chair and The Famous Five!! ???). Have they renamed Fanny in this one? I almost rebought them but couldn't deal with "Franny". ??? 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @GlassAsDiamonds, sadly yes. Frannie, Beth and Joe 🙄 I think it's the change to cousin 'Rick' that gets me the most! (Old editions forever) 7y
