Their god is War. And every god needs his Devil. THE RELIGION Malta, 1565. The greatest war the world has ever seen is unleashed on the doomed island as the Turks do battle with the Knights. The Knights call themselves The Religion. The Turks call them the Hounds of Hell. Back in Sicily, the beautiful, rich Carla pines for her bastard son, lost in the bloody inferno across the water. Enter Mattias Tannhauser – warrior, hero and double agent. Under Carla’s command, he embarks on a death-defying mission to save her son. But can he evade the Inquisition and escape to run the Turkish blockade to victory in time?

Thanks for the tag, @Eggs 😊 #WondrousWednesday

1. There are many places I'd love to travel to after reading about them, but the first to come to mind is Malta, setting of the tagged book. It sounds lovely & has such an interesting history.

2. Having a good, FT, decent paying job with health insurance.

Eggs Great post - thanks for joining in 🥳 2y

#backpackEurope travelogue *fictional*
Country 22: Malta is a tiny island nation near Italy and it is beautiful. I saw the Azure Window, St John's Co-Cathedral, Valetta, and Mdina (where GoT films for King's Landing. I took the location tour). East meets west here, Crusade ruins galore.
This book stunk. Total sausage fest. Like a bad Ken Follett book. The women had little characterization/were mostly used for sex. Never reading Willocks again. 1/5

Cinfhen My kids are there now!!! They say it‘s stunning 💙and their photos don‘t lie!!!! 6y
bookandcat @Cinfhen I'm sooooo jealous!! It seems so cool (and less traveled in terms of tourist spots) 6y

Cinfhen They literally booked their flights two days before they went and paid $235 for round trip. They said it‘s the most laid back place, drivers license aren‘t required 😱😱😱😱and legal drinking age is 16!!!! They also said it‘s not crowded and food/lodging is VERY AFFORDABLE 6y
booksandsympathy @Cinfhen $235 round trip? What?!!! 6y
